The Beginning of The Intentional Athlete

Mark Pruss started on his coaching path while attending Arizona State University, where he met and interviewed with Head Strength Coach Bill Allerheiligan, who had just arrived from the University of Nebraska. Bill is a Founding Member, and former President and Member of the Board of Directors of the NSCA National Strength and Conditioning Association. Mark was subsequently hired by Bob Gildersleeve as a Coach to work with student athletes. In 1982 Mark had the privilege of working as a Strength and Conditioning Coach with the great Jon Cole at his facility in Scottsdale, Arizona. Jon Cole was a two-time All-American and National AAU Champion in Track and Field as a discus thrower. He is also the first man to Squat 900 lbs. and is one of the world’s all-time great Powerlifter, coach, and athlete.

Mark was also facing a personal hurdle: Battling life-long depression. It was during this enormous struggle that Mark realized the benefits exercise, nutrition, and mastering mental/emotional processes play in coping with a debilitating illness. Although Mark was better able to cope with his depression, and clients were achieving excellent results, there was still a missing component… Life goals and sports performance are often sabotaged by fears and limiting beliefs. How could these ways of thinking and feeling be neutralized or reprogrammed – allowing one to become healthy, confident and maximize performance?

The "Aha Moment" arrived when Mark was first introduced to energy work after a serious car accident in 1984. Mark travelled to Sedona, Arizona and discovered the teachings of Dr. David Hawkins, and dedicated his study to human performance and Applied and Behavioral Kinesiology. Mark soon discovered that his well-being and athletes’ progress toward their best performances were not only the adherence to nutrition and conditioning programs but the entrainment of the mind, body, and sport.

These processes are taught within several programs…The Sedona Body Mastery Program for personal wellness, The Intentional Athlete for sports performance, and Selling in the Shift for Sales Professionals.  Mark is proud to have worked with athletes and coaches that have played in these fine organizations: Major League Baseball, National Football League, National Basketball Association, and athletes in over 60 NCAA Universities.

Additional disciplines include: Thought Field Therapy® TFT, Emotional Freedom Techniques® (EFT®), Acu-POWER, and PSYCH-K®, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), The Sedona Method®, and HeartMath®.
